Beta μ do not seeks to present a final version of PEST methodology.  Our aim is merely the promotion of debates about it. In doing so, we hope to reinforce its scientific appeal.

Here we present a interpretation of a whole chain of concepts commonly used, but not exclusively applied, in numerical groundwater flow models.

Theory:

- Pages 01 to 12 try to discuss what we think is of paramount importance on numerical modelling: Strategies to understand the Automatic Parameter Estimation algorithm  - PEST.

- Pages 13 to 20 presents the main original propositions of what are becoming one of the main functionalities of PEST, the predictive-Uncertainty Analysis.

Practice:

- A case study is currently being presented in a second group of pages: c_01 to c_10.

We strongly recommend the videos of Prof. John Doherty, this very author of this material.
